From 24.10.2009 to 25.10.2009 General Assembly

China

The ICoD 23 General Assembly took place from 24-25 October 2009 at the Gehua New Century Hotel Beijing, in Beijing (China) . This historic occasion marked the first time in the Council’s almost 50 year history that a General Assembly was been held in China.

Attendance at the General Assembly is by invitation only to ICoD Member organisations and invited Observers. We welcomed delegates from more than 30 countries to the Meeting.

Members meet every two years as the General Assembly to consider:

  • The Council’s policy and programmes
  • Reports of the Council
  • Financial Statements
  • Admission of new Members
  • Venue for the next General Assembly
  • Items proposed by Members

Key items for consideration at the 23GA General Assembly included a commitment to recognise sustainable practice as a key component of professional communication design; new best practice documents on design exhibitions, conferences, and serving as a member of a jury; and advancing a unified voice for design at the global level through collaboration and alliance building.

During the General Assembly, members actively participated in a  workshops session of their choice. Results from these workshops greatly influenced the strategic direction of the organisation as they capture the concerns and recommendations of the membership.

23GA Workshops: Membership engagement

The 23GA included three workshops offering Members the opportunity to collectively define and articulate their aspirations for the Council.

The workshop sessions:

  • International collaboration and advocacy
  • Professional practice and policy
  • Member benefits
