The International Council of Design is non-profit, member-based international organisation that is independent and non-partisan. Because our funding comes from design associations, educational institutions, government entities, and other non-profit partners, we represent the interests of designers and the profession, without compromise.
Corporate interests are not always aligned with good design principles. Designers are sometimes undervalued, misunderstood and exploited. The design industry can be slow to adjust to social and cultural evolution and change. As a Council representing designers we are in position to criticise, challenge and disagree freely. We wish to remain a fundamentally grass-roots organisation, for and by designers. We are designer-led and designer-controlled so that we can remain designer-focused.
