This competition is organised to encourage digital content creators in Taipei to generate creative, international, and marketable digital products to shape Taipei as a design capital. By holding international competitions, this project seeks to select outstanding creative works, raise the quality of the creations, and develop marketable products with the ultimate aim of stimulating the development of the digital content industry.

Themes

This competition has two themes as described below:
  1. Images of Taipei: entry depicts TaipeiÂ’s life and culture, distinguishing features and development of the city.
  2. Open theme, free of choice. Examples include cultural features, lifestyle, environmental protection and green energy, sustainable management, education, virtual reality, entertainment, etc.

Categories

Entries can be submitted to five groups in three categories. Categories and entry formats are described below:

Digital Graphic Art
A4-size. graphical work with one single theme displayed as 3-5 panels telling a story or presenting a concept.

Digital Video and Animation
  • Digital video
    Video or micro-film work presenting the concept of the entry. No time limitation.
  • Digital animation
    2D or 3D digital animation work. No time limitation.
Mobile Application and Mobile Game
  • Mobile apps
    software application that can be installed and function fully on smart phones
  • Mobile games
    game that can be installed and function fully on smart phones

Eligibility

  • Anyone around the world interested in digital content design.
  • The entry must be an original creative work, published or not, created after June 2010.

Judging procedures

  1. Review of qualifications: Entries are reviewed for eligibility, completeness of information submitted and proper format.
  2. Preliminary selection: by nomination. Entries nominated by more than half of the judges continue to the subsequent review.
  3. Subsequent review: by nomination. Entries nominated by more than half of the judges continue to the comprehensive review.
  4. Comprehensive review

Judging Criteria

Entries in each category are judged according to their creativity, execution, applicability and artistry. The weight of each criterium is described below:

  • Bronze Award (NT$ 10,000)

In addition to monetary awards, Grand prix, Gold Award, Silver Award, Bronze Award winners also receive trophies and certificates.

A selection from each group that adheres to the Images of Taipei theme will be selected by the organizer and given the Taipei Special Award.

In keeping with its policy of transparency, the Taipei City Government has integrated the city governmentÂ’s public information into a single portal for its citizens to use. Entrants of the mobile application (C1) and mobile game (C2) groups who have used information provided by the city governmentÂ’s public information platform (http://data.taipei.gov.tw) may also be considered for the Taipei City Government Creative Application of Public Information Award.

Recipients of the Taipei Special Award and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners of the Taipei City Government Creative Application of Public Information Award receive trophies and certificates in addition to prizes.

Competition Procedures

Entrants may register online or by mail.

Step 1: online or mail-in registration: Complete the participant information form online or in writing.

Step 2: mailing the entry: Burn the entry file following specifications onto a disk and export or print the work. Include a signed copy of the Participant Agreement Form. Entrants who choose to register by mail must also include the registration form.

Note: Should a disk get damaged in transit, the submitter will be notified and asked to submit the file through the Web.
