2013 IDA Congress Istanbul: Design Dialects

Under the theme ÂDesign DialectsÂ, the congress will encourage a
dialogue about the value of design-based collaboration between the
disciplines of industrial design, communication design, interior
architecture/design with government leaders, INGO's, business, science
and technology, education and the social sciences.The proposed theme is a metaphor for confrontation, conversation and collaboration to enable creation and exchange of discourses about, for and by design during the professional dialogues among its different agents. The unique culture and the congress theme will be weaved together to offer participants a stimulating programme and exciting social events.
Professional Programme
The two-day congress will be organised around sub-themes "Confrontation" and "Collaboration" with international keynote speakers, parallel sessions and panel discussions all focused on exploring controversial topics as a means to interdisciplinary collaboration.

Educational Conference
A one-day educational conference will take place on 15 November 2013. The conference aims to function as a source of
inspiration to start dialogue between different agents of design who speak the
language of design with their own ÂdialectsÂ.
Professor Kalevi Ekman from Aalto University,
Finland is confirmed as the opening keynote speaker on 15 November.
EkmanÂs educational focus is on integrated product development and
collaborative development of consumer and investment goods, as it
relates especially to engineering and industrial design viewpoints.
The conference, an open invitation to design academics all over the world to converse and collaborate as a part of the 2013 IDA Congress, received a total number of 261 abstracts from 48 countries.
Fair and Exhibition
2013 IDA Congress Istanbul Fair & Exhibition will be organised on 15-17 November in Istanbul Congress Center.
With 10,000 m² exhibition space at the Istanbul Congress Center and with 10,000 guests expected, the fair and exhibition will be a real showcase for the design industry and institutions.
