HKDA global design awards 2018

ICoD is pleased to announce the Member Event  HKDA Global Design Awards 2018 organised by Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA). The Deadline to submit is 09 November 2018 18:00 (Hong Kong Time).

Established in 1972, the Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA) is the first of its kind in Hong Kong created for practicing designers and design administrators, with aims to uphold the status of design practitioners and to encourage the use and the appreciation of quality design in the community.

The HKDA Awards has been one of the most established cross-disciplinary design competitions includign Digital, Graphics, Product and Spatial, in the Asia-Pacific region organised by HKDA since 1975. To embrace the development of the design industry and the best designs worldwide, HKDA Awards were revamped to become HKDA Global Design Awards (HKDA GDA). The contest welcomes entries from all over the world. It is not simply a design competition to honour global design excellence, but also acts as an engine to energise a series of events as a yearlong campaign that aims to promote Hong Kong designs internationally and to enhance Hong Kong as one of the major creative hubs in Asia-Pacific.

Entrants have to register and submit applications via an online system. For Graphics and Product Categories, entrants must submit printed boards or actual work to HKDA office by mail or courier. For Product Category, entrants can also submit a hyperlink for judges to watch product demonstration videos. For Spatial Category, entrants have to upload a high resolution PDF file to present their works. For Digital Category, entrants have to provide download links for installing apps or/and webpage hyperlinks for evaluation. Detailed information about submission will be shown on GDA2018 Awards Website.

The results of the competition will be publicly announced on 6 December 2018. Shortlisted entrants will receive an email notification. However, Award Prize (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Excellence, Hong Kong Best & Judges' Choice) will only be announced during the Awards Presentation Ceremony on 27 April 2019. List of Award Winners will also be posted onto the official website of GDA2018 after the presentation ceremony. An Exhibition will be held in May 2019 in Hong Kong.
