ICoD is pleased to endorse The 50th Anniversary International Invitation Exhibition of KECD 2019 to be held at the Hongik Daehangno Art Center in Seoul, organised by ICoD Member Korea Ensemble of Contemporary Design (KECD)  

The exhibition will examine the historical changes within civilization on a global, national, and individual scale throughout the half-century from the year in which KECD was established, 1969 to 2019. The exhibition aims to reflect the true story of the designers faithfully by refined visual subject matter. Civilization asks a designer as a specialist to become a designer as a generalist, and again to ask a designer as a generalist to become a designer as a super generalist in chronological order. 

Thus welcoming this year's exhibition theme: 1969-2019, 50 years.

The 50th Anniversary International Exhibition of KECD 2019 is a chance to readdress KECD’s identity, and construct a new mission as a graphic design organization in the digital media age as a part of Korea's design history. KECD will present their historical importance, as well as promote further human interchange with invited designers from various other Asian countries during the conference and exhibition event —promoting a dialogue on how to consolidate Asian networks for the future.

The exhibition will provide research on design circumstances in Korea when KECD was established, and reflect on the original purpose of the organisation. The spirit of the exhibition will derive from the interview contents of the six members from the beginning of 1969. Compiling a design history book from the past fifty years, KECD records its historical development and purpose in Korean graphic design history. The exhibition will also provide a great opportunity to observe the diverse creative design work by participants from various Asian countries.
