Valid from 16.12.2021 to 01.08.2022

The New York State College of Ceramics (NYSCC) School of Art and Design (SoAD) at Alfred University seeks a designer for a full-time, tenure track, Assistant Professor of Design within the Division of Expanded Media, to begin August 2022. The position will teach both in the Expanded Media undergraduate studios, the Electronic Integrated Arts MFA program, along with opportunities to participate in Foundations. Additional responsibilities include ongoing creative research as well as service to the division, the school, and the university.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will need to envision new models of thinking and making that displace the boundaries between art and design, while still being grounded in material explorations and design thinking. We are interested in designers that define their practice as integrative and speculative. The candidate's work should demonstrate a strong visual vocabulary, conceptually rich perspectives, and strong technological skills with an emphasis on the experimental. Further, the successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the practice and instruction of design for both print and screen-based media. Of particular importance will be the candidate's ability to develop curriculum inclusive of the wide range of tools and technologies in the Division of Expanded Media. An MFA in Art and Design or equivalent is preferred.
