Fort Collins (United States) - In 2003, shortly after the war in Iraq began, Colorado State University sent the following message to graphic designers around the world.

"Recent international events have ignited the passions of all caring persons. We find ourselves in a new world of determined violence and upheaval that threatens the fabric of civilized relationships.

We invite your response."

Poster designers have a long and proud history of presenting the pulse of the common citizen into public view. The historical record of these expressions serves as a living body of work that continues to enrich our societies.

Graphic Responses is an online poster exhibition initiated in 2003 as a "graphic response" to upheavals in international events. It seeks provide new international perspectives on current issues and offer an online outlet for graphic designers to express visual opinions that may never see ink on paper.

The Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition (CIIPE) is sponsoring an online exhibition of poster solutions dedicated to this spirit entitled Graphic Responses 4. This fourth biennial exhibition will be held in concurrence with the 16th CIIPE. The intent is to make the work available to an unlimited international audience through internet access.

Submissions do not have to respond to a specific category, theme or text, but must address pertinent international events and social concerns. The exhibition will present two posters from each designer. Digital submissions will be credited and protected from unlawful use. Hard copies are not requested. We will present and promote this work to American media outlets.
