Nagoya (Japan) - To mark its 15 anniversary this winter, the International Design Center NAGOYA (IdcN) is organising an exhibition as well as a series of talks and roundtable discussions to provide a platform for young talent to demonstrate how they use their creative visions to impact the social fabric and improve everyday life.

Around 32 creators from 15 countries have been invited to participate in the exhibition entitled 'Social Designers: Design for Real Needs'. Held from December 2006 to Feburary 2007, the commemorative exhibition features selected projects by past participants of the International New Designers Workshop.

In addition, IdcN is hosting an international conference on 'Design for Social Innovations' that will allow the private sector, the creative community, governments and the general public to converge and exchange ideas on 21-22 January 2007 in Nagoya. Icograda is pleased to extend its endorsement of this event.

Conference sessions include:

The Social Designers: design for real needs: Through interactive discussions, this session will give the new perspectives of how our young generation coming from a diversity of cultural backgrounds use design to develop new visions and scenarios which can contribute towards cultural diversity and social responsibility.

Cultural Diversity & Lifestyles: What is design in the service of society? In a world where lifestyles are becoming more diversified, traditional values towards home, family and work are now collapsing. How do we use our creative visions to impact the social fabric and improve everyday life?

Creative Industries & The New Generation: How do we cultivate a future generation who have the power and passion to apply their skills to make a difference in our everyday life?

Design for Social Innovations: Through propositions of policies, of products, of spaces, technology innovation and experiences, we will illustrate how design is truly about changing people and that positive and appropriate solutions can and should be created in order to construct a better global system.
