ICOGRADA BOARD WELCOMES THREE NEW MEMBER ASSOCIATIONS

Seoul (Korea) - The International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda) announced today the addition of three new member associations - from Czech Republic, Taiwan, and Yugoslavia. Provisional membership, which will be ratified at Icograda s next General Assembly in Johannesburg in September 2001, has been granted to the Association of Applied Graphics (AUG) in Czech Republic, Taiwan Poster Design Association (TPDA) in Taiwan, and the Association of Applied Arts Artists and Designers of Vojvodina (UPIDIV) in Yugoslavia. This brings the total number of Icograda member associations to 66, representing 43 countries.

In advance of an Asian Regional Meeting of graphic design associations and the Oullim 2000 Seoul Icograda Millennium Congress, the Board of the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda) met for three days for strategic planning and to conduct of Icograda s affairs. President David Grossman stated: "As we enter the new millennium, we strive to serve the diverse needs of both long standing design organizations, as well as those of new associations in emerging economies. We are the global umbrella body for the graphic design and visual communication profession, and we are excited to see the worldwide graphic design community coming together as never before."

The Oullim 2000 Seoul Icograda Millennium Congress, with the central theme of "Oullim - the Great Harmony" will be held at COEX in Seoul, Korea from 25 - 27 October, 2000. The event is sold out and promises to be a great success, with over 1600 delegates arriving from around the world.

The next Icograda Regional Meeting will be in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in January 2001, followed by a Regional Meeting in Zagreb, Croatia in April 2001. The 19th Icograda world congress, Continental Shift 2001, will take place in Sandton, South Africa in September 2001 in conjunction with Icograda's 19th General Assembly. The 20th General Assembly and world design congress, "Look - from Sight to Insight," will be held in Nagoya, Japan in 2003.

Icograda is the representative international organization for graphic design and visual communication. Founded in London in 1963, Icograda holds consultative status with UNESCO, UNIDO, and the Council of Europe.
