Seoul (Korea) - The Korean Minister of Knowledge Economy has appointed Dr. Taeyong Lee, former President & CEO of KEMCO (Korea Energy Management Corporation) and former Deputy Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, as the new President of KIDP (Korea Institute of Design Promotion). Dr. Lee took office as President on 27 March 2012.

Dr. Lee began his career as a government official at the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, then the Ministry of Energy & Resources. Since then, he has held numerous positions including the Executive Administrator position to the Senior Secretary to the President for Policy Coordination. Other key positions served include overseas positions such as the Commercial Counselor for the Korean Embassy to Australia and the WTO Counselor to the Permanent Mission of Korea to the UN Secretariat and International Organizations in Geneva. He has also served as the Head of Foreign Investor Support Office at Invest Korea, Korea's national investment promotion agency. And most recently, he sat on the Green Growth Committee that reports directly to the President.

After studying Political Science at the Seoul National University, Dr. Lee received a Master's degree in Energy & Resources from the University of California, Berkeley, California, United States and a Doctorate in Economics from Ajou University, Suwon, Korea.

With his multi-disciplinary knowledge and rich global experiences, Dr. Lee is anticipated to lead the advancement of KIDP's role and its future domestically as well as internationally.
