UNESCO's Assistant Director-General Bureau of Strategic Planning visits Beijing

Beijing (China) - On 23 February, invited by Beijing Industrial Design Center(BIDC), Mr. Hans d'Orville, Assistant Director-General Bureau of Strategic Planning UNESCO, payed a visit in Beijing. Mr. Cai Fuchao, Vice mayor of Beijing met Mr. Hans d'Orville in the afternoon. During the meeting, Mr. Cai briefly introduced Beijing's development and the process of Beijing's application to be recognised as a City of Design within UNESCO's Creative Cities Network. Mr. Hans d'Orville appreciated the development Beijing has made these years, and also provided precious suggestions.

Mrs. Yan Aoshuang, Director of Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, hosted a welcome banquet for Mr. Hans d'Orville. The hosts and guests talked about the development of Beijing's design industry. Mr. Hans d'Orville was very astonished about the tremendous growth in Beijing, he said it would be great if Beijing could use diverse ways such as new media to let the world know what's going on in Beijing. Mr. Abhimanyu Singh, Representative of UNESCO Office Beijing, Mr. Liu Hui, committee member of Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission and Mr. Chen Dongliang, Director of BIDC also attended the banquet.
