Melbourne (Australia) - From 16 - 18 July 2008, Design Capital, the design and business conference of the State of Design Festival, brings together 25 leading international and local innovators, designers, and business figures to canvass crucial issues relevant to designing thinking, innovation, sustainability and the commercialisation of design led products and services. Through their insights Design Capital predicts new trajectories for design led business from Victoria to the rest of Australia and beyond.  Design Capital, presented by Design Victoria, is a design based, business strategy update, offering three connected days of market intelligence, insight, and forecasting. 

Three of the sessions' speakers will be presented by two of Icograda's Australian Members:

Theo Williams - London, UK
Theo is the new Head of Design at London's retail icon Habitat, responsible for evolving the Habitat collection and brand. Theo has designed products for global brands including Alessi, Danese, Armani, Nava, and Prada, and has worked in senior creative roles for Lexon in Paris, Mexx in Amsterdam, and Comme Ca in Japan. Williams is intrigued by the commercial capability of first impressions - the ability for design to communicate to consumers across spatial environments, brand language, and product design.

Dan Hill - Sydney, Australia
Through his experience as Head of Web and Broadcast of Monocle.com, delivering one of the hottest new global media brands to a discerning online audience, and as former Head of Online for BBC.com, Now a Senior Consultant in Urban Planning at ARUP, Hill explores how information systems, data mapping and a broadcast society will shape the future of our cities, and the lives of those who occupy them.

Emily Pilloton - San Francisco, USA
Emily is the founder of Project H, a San Francisco based organisation that supports and delivers humanitarian product design solutions in developing countries. Pilloton is also the Managing Editor of the online sustainability bible Inhabitat.com. Pilloton proposes a challenge for all designers to engage with the future, championing the idea of 'enabling design' as a catalyst for individual and global empowerment.
