About the Dutch Design Awards 2004 Exhibition
The exhibition of the Dutch Design Awards 2004 was officially opened at the awards ceremony in the Van Gendthallen, Amsterdam, on 9 September 2004. Selected designs - from fashion to packaging, from web sites to printing, from interior design to public space and from art to consumer products - will be exhibited in the neighbouring INIT building. The exhibition at will be open to the public daily from 10 to 26 September 2004 and will be the focal point of the municipality's 'Amsterdam Design' month.

During the exhibition of the Dutch Design Awards 2004, and in co-operation with Association of Dutch Designers (BNO), a special 'meet a designer' afternoon will be held on Sundays. During those afternoons, designers will address any possible questions and concerns that may face consumers. It is a unique opportunity for everyone to start a dialogue with the inventors and makers of the designs exhibited. Except for the exhibition's entry fee, no extra admission is charged for the 'meet a designer' guided tours. Reservations are not necessary.

About the Dutch Design Awards
The Dutch Design Awards are annually granted in fifteen categories and a special Design For All-category. They encourage the development of sound design and underscore the added value of design for society and industry. The important event also gives Dutch designers and their commissioners the opportunity to profile themselves and to be acknowledged internationally.

The Dutch Design Awards, an initiative of BNO (Association of Dutch Designers) and Designlink, are partly a continuation of the GIO acknowledgements for sound industrial design, which were granted until 2001. In addition to the founders, the Board of the foundation Dutch Design Awards consists of three independent members, including its chairman. The Dutch Design Awards 2004 are possible thanks to: Amsterdam municipality, Grafische Cultuurstichting, Hollandse Nieuwe, Interface, Het Oosten, Oostenburgereiland, Het Parool, Premsela stichting voor Nederlandse Vormgeving, Studio Dumbar, Usual Suspects, and Vertical vision.
