Dulles (United States) - The International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda) and The International Council of Societies for Industrial Design (Icsid) have endorsed The Aging Consumer , a competition among American and European schools that will enable winners to receive funding for an interdisciplinary project on the theme of serving the aging consumer.

The goal of this competition is to encourage schools to develop interdisciplinary educational models that better prepare students to work in today's integrative business world. The program seeks to foster thinking in terms of building a product's brand architecture during the design process and hopes to sensitize students in an array of disciplines to the issues facing the growing aging population while encouraging them to develop innovative solutions and new perspectives regarding this important social segment.

Eligible Participants:

1. Any National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD)-accredited US school proposing a team project whose participating students and teachers represent: industrial and graphic design and such other disciplines as marketing, finance, engineering, biomechanics, human factors, anthropology, etc.

2. Any European design school from the list provided by Icsid and Icograda following the same requirements as the US teams.

Deadline for Submissions:

Eligible schools wishing to participate in this competition are encouraged to submit proposals to the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) by 10 November 2005.

Prizes:

1. USD $40 000 per school, paid out in three installments
2. Reviews and critiques by Proctor and Gamble designers as the selected programs develop.
