Istanbul (Turkey) - For over a hundred years, Turkey has turned West with respect to its development in culture and arts and tried to define the relationship between design and tradition in relation to Europe. Based on his personal experience, Timucin Unan contemplates this relationship and reevaluates his own work in this regard.

Timucin emphasizes the fact that for someone with a wide perspective, Istanbul provides a vast panorama, looking out onto the West and the East. Through this metaphoric window, he adds: "design is further enriched by infinite sources." Unan believes that as in many other areas, Istanbul offers a colorful scheme in design. That's what he will demonstrate during his presentation at the 'Building Bridges' seminar in Istanbul (Turkey) on 31 January.

Timucin Unan is born in Dusseldorf (Germany) in 1965. He completed his education in Visual Communication and Design in Germany and began his career at the Birnbach Design Atellier. After moving back to Turkey, he worked as an art director and won several national and international awards such as 11 GMK Awards, Kristal Elma (Crystal Apple), 1.st place in Europalla '97 logo design. Timucin was twice finalist at Epica between 1992 and 1997. In 1997, he acted as one of the founding members of ADOffice. In 1999, he founded 'Timucin Unan Design Atellier' (TUT AJANS) which is currently operating as an advertising agency. The same year he began giving lectures on design at the Mimar Sinan University, Department of Fine Arts and conducted the Workshop in Grafist 2000. Presently, he continues his career in design and advertising as the president and creative director of TUT AJANS in Istanbul (Turkey).
