Johannesburg (South Africa) - magazine released its 13 edition on Africa Day, 25 May, focusing on the theme 'Afrika'. The spelling symbolises an ethos of self-definition and self-determination and recognises the fact that the letter 'cÂ’'is not used in most African languages.

Africa Day, which is celebrated on 25 May every year, marks the founding in 1963 of the Organisation of African Unity, now known as the African Union. According to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Africa Day is meant to highlight Africa's achievements and to offer an opportunity to take stock of the massive and urgent challenges that remain on the continent.

In support of Africa Day, DESIGN> magazine is celebrating everything African by publishing a special edition featuring 44 articles focusing on design from the continent and spanning 263 pages. DESIGN>13, is the largest-ever edition of the magazine. Covering designers and design projects in more than 16 African countries, this magazine is one of the first commercial publications in the world to exclusively dedicate such a bulk of editorial space to African design.
