Vancouver (Canada) - Consisting of three intimate and interactive dinners, taking place as part of , Dinner with a side of design will engage local leaders and designers in collaborative conversations focused around the complex themes of sustainability, culture and economics.
What if this was the new way that policies were introduced and discussed?
And what if, instead of having a town hall meeting to address new by-laws, you invited a few members of the community to also join in at this table?
Maybe it becomes the way that new ideas get introduced in order to test their validity and acceptance?

The concept
Imagine inviting some of your city officials to dinner. You serve amazing food and drink and let some designers and other members of the community join in. You pose a topic to the group and to facilitate the dinner conversation, include a designed tablecloth that becomes a place to visualise the conversations that occur. This activity acts as a conduit for new ideas to emerge when considering how to collectively work toward a common future. By treating complexity with a measure of comradery, we are encouraged to see each other and our collective problems differently.What if this was the new way that policies were introduced and discussed?
