ICOGRADA AND THINK COLLABORATE ON INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN SOUTH AFRICA

Johannesburg (South Africa) - Think is proud to announce its first ever conference, featuring international speakers from the Icograda Executive Board of Directors, including Ric GrefÃ©(CEO, AIGA), Mervyn Kurlansky (Past President, Icograda) and Lise Vejse Klint (President of Danish designers). The conference will also feature South African designers Garth Walker (Orange Juice) and Jacques Lange (Icograda President). The one-day event will conclude with think's inaugural Hall of Fame, where Kenny Saint, Mervyn Kurlansky and Dr Anton Rupert will be honoured for their contributions to the world of design.

Richard GrefÃ© is the executive director of AIGA, the professional association for design USA. AIGA, under Ric, has become the leading advocate for the value of designing, as a way of thinking and as a means of creating strategic value for business. He also serves as executive director of the Aspen Design Summit and the president of AIGA Design for Democracy.

Mervyn Kurlansky is active in design education. He lectures extensively and serves on design juries for both educational and professional organisations world-wide. He is co-founder of ICIS (the International Center of Creativity, Innovation and Sustainability). He is immediate Past President of Icograda, a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers, the International Society of Typographic Designers, and the Royal Society for the encouragement of the Arts, Manufacture & Commerce. He is a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale, and the Association of Danish Designers.

Garth Walker is a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale, British Design and Art Direction (D&AD), The St. Moritz Design Summit and The Type Directors Club. His work is in the collection of Bibliotheque Nationale de France, Victoria & Albert Museum, The Smithsonian and a number of University collections in Europe, Australia, China and the USA.

Lise Vejse Klint is currently President of Danish Designers, Board Member of the Danish Art Foundation and Board Member of the Danish Design School. She graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture with a combined degree in Architecture and Graphic Design in 1993 and thus has a natural inclination to the interdisciplinary approach to design that has become such a focus of the design world today.

Jacques Lange is partner and creative director at Bluprint Design. He is an advisor to various NGOs, governmental and education institutions, president of Icograda and lead chair of the International Design Alliance (IDA), chair of the Icograda Foundation, and a steering committee member of the SABS Design Institute's Design Acheievers Awards.
