ICOGRADA ENDORSES 16TH INTERNATIONAL POSTER AND GRAPHIC ARTS FESTIVAL OF CHAUMONT

Brussels (Belgium) - Icograda has endorsed the 16th International Poster and Graphic Arts Festival of Chaumont.* The Festival will take place from 21 May to 26 June 2005 in the town of Chaumont, France, and aims to collect and exhibit a culturally diverse mix of posters created since January 2002. The 16th Festival will showcase the results of the International Competition and a Student Competition. Upon a very dynamic 2004 edition (more than 20,000 visitors recorded), the Festival is once again promoting the poster as the medium for its International Competition. The entry deadline is 28 January 2005.
In keeping with the Festival's aim to develop a diversified programme, the International Poster Competition of the 16th International Poster and Graphic Arts Festival of Chaumont does not have a theme. This policy - initiated in 2003 - brought 2200 new posters to Chaumont in 2003 and over 1800 posters in 2004. The works have enriched the contemporary collection of Chaumont, a unique archive bringing together more than 20,000 posters from around the world.
The International Competition of Chaumont is open to any printed poster created since 1 January 2002, whether they be cultural, social, political or commercial. Artists may enter between one and five posters, submitted as individual works or as a series. The posters can be the work of one sole artist or of a group. They can either be issued by private commissioners or public organisations. Those who have already taken part in previous Competitions in Chaumont must enter different posters created within the past three years.
The International Competition is organised under the patronage of the Ministry for Culture and Communication and is endorsed by Icograda.
