Warsaw (Poland) - The 20th International Warsaw Poster Biennale is currently accepting submissions of poster work created around the world between 2004 and 2005. Organised by the Poster Museum at Wilanow, the Department of the National Museum in Warsaw and the Polish Poster Foundation, and endorsed by Icograda, the Warsaw Biennale aims at reviewing and comparing the most significant achievements in poster art from the past two years. TIME LIMITS:
1. The 20th IPB will be held in Warsaw at the Poster Museum at Wilan w and will last from 3 June 2006 to 24 September 2006.
2. Deadline for sending entries is 15 January 2005.

THEMATIC CATEGORIES:
A - Ideological posters works concerning universal themes; conditions and existence of man, civilisation problems, social and political action
B - Culture posters promoting culture, art, education and sport ventures
C - Advertising posters promoting commodities and business
D - The Henryk Tomaszewski Golden Debut works submitted by students or graduates of art academies within two years from graduation. Graduation projects printed digitally can be submitted with permission from the college.

CONDITIONS OF ENTERING AND PARTICIPATING:
1 - The 20th IPB will exhibit works of individual artists, art studios and art agencies.
2 - Each participant may submit no more than3 posters of2004-2005 (each in two copies). The entries must be the finished works of offset or silk-screen printing.
3 - The organizers will only accept posters that will not exceed the following sizes:
-- the longer edge must not exceed180cm,
-- the shorter edge must not be less than40cm.
4 - Each poster should bear a label that must be filled in legibly in block letters. The label has to be pasted to the lower left-hand corner on the reverse side of the poster.
5 - The participants will be asked to fill in an entry form in block letters or typewritten. An illegible entry form will cause disqualification of the entry.
The personal details given on the entry form will serve later as valuable information in the 20th IPB Catalogue. Each entry-form should be signed by the participant.
6 - The posters submitted will not be returned.
7 - The posters glued into a hard base or framed will not be accepted.
8 - Works in electronic form. Along with the hard copy, please send documents in electronic form recorded on CD-ROM. CDs should operate on Mac OS or Microsoft Windows platform. File Technical Specification: document size: 100x150mm, resolution: 300 dpi (CMYK), file type: TIFF, EPS (if materials have been prepared in QuarkXpress or Page Maker program, please, attach to the main file graphic files or fonts).
9 - The works should be packed in a safe and practical manner to avoid any damage during transport. Damaged posters will not be accepted. The organizers do not take responsibility for damage sustained in transport.
10 - Postage and other incidental expenses are to be covered by the sender. The posters must be sent as printed matter of non-commercial value . Please do not include the price of your submission on the postal declaration or invoice, as this complicates the delivery procedure; the organizers will not undertake any customs clearance and the parcel will be sent back.

APPRAISEMENT
The posters appropriated for the competitive exhibition will be chosen by the Qualifying Committee. The selected participants will be notified.

PRIZES
The International Jury will award prizes for every category and will announce the verdict on the opening day: 3 June 2006.
The Gold Medal = 10000 zlotys
The Silver Medal = 6000 zlotys
The Bronze Medal = 4000 zlotys
The Golden Debut = 5000 zlotys

A prize awarded for a group is treated as a prize for individual achievement and cannot be multiplied. The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw will grant the J zef Mroszczak Honorary Award to commemorate the founder and first organizer of IPB. The organizers allow other prizes funded by official sponsors and individuals wishing to support the art of poster.

All money prizes may be exchanged into foreign currencies according to international law. The Gold Medals Winners will be invited to the next Biennale Laureates Exhibition to present their poster art output.

FINAL OBLIGATION
All the posters qualified for the competitive exhibition become the property of The Poster Museum at Wilan w. The organizers have the right to photograph and reprint the works for publicity and promotion of IPB.
