India Design Council announces winning I-mark design

Ahmedabad (India) - The India Design Council (IDC) has announced the winning entry for the new India Design Mark. The 'I-Mark' is modeled after Japan's G-Mark, awarded to winners of the Good Design Award hosted by the Japanese Institute of Design Promotion (JDP). The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on collaboration in education and the development of design practices in April 2010. Vasant Mehar, the selected designer, is an alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT).
The jury, led by Dr. Naushad Forbes, included Ritu Kumar, Ravi Poovaiah, Sudarshan Dheer, Preeti Vyas, Sundar and Shrikant Nivasarkar. Thirteen entries by leading designers were shortlisted from a total of 201 submissions.
Selection criteria for the 'I-Mark' design were based on Icograda guidelines, in consultation with jury members, through a transparent process disclosed on the India Design Council website.
