Milan (Italy) - After the success of the 2009 Naples edition and following the many events organised by the (Aiap) since 2003, the organisation has announced the second edition of the International Graphic Design Week, themed 'Graphic Foods', to take place in Bologna from 5-9 October 2010.

Design Per 2010 is a unique event for Italy and quite an exceptional one for the rest of Europe. A very rich programme, including workshops, lectures and round tables, open studios for students and professionals, will focus on topics such as: visual communication for food industry, design for publishing trade, packaging and environment.

Special guests, among the most famous and innovating worldwide graphics and studios, will lead the workshops: Borja Martinez for Lo Siento (Spain, Design For Packaging), Gordon Young (England, Design For Environment), Hans Wolbers for Lava (Holland, Design for Editing), I profit (Italy, Design for Enterprise).

During the International Graphic Design Week some important exhibitions will take place:

Erberto Carboni and Barilla

The exhibition is an example of Italian excellence where design can become an important tool for business development. All the visual materials designed by Carboni for Barilla will be showed in Bologna, from the advertising posters to the identity projects and the stagings.

Milton Glaser

A retrospective with more than 70 posters that were designed in 50 years by American artist and graphic designer, famous around the world as the creator of the I LOVE NEW YORK logo (1976).

Pre-visioni per Bologna

Displaying new visions for the city through the represention what it is and what it could be. The exhibition is not only a gift but also a challenge for the town's citizens, explained through the simplicity of manifestos' language.

These exhibitions will be supported by other thematic exhibitions, seminars and round tables with more than 50 international chairmen.

"Eating with eyes is the best way to explain the topic of this edition," the Aiap President, Daniela Piscitelli, explains, "because it suggests how taste tends to be the last, not the first, of the senses involved. Therefore, quite often, when we create food we start from a visual perception and then we link also a flavour to it".
