Montreal (Canada) - Icograda has accepted an invitation to join CanadaÂ’s Cultural Trade Advisory Team (CTAT). CTAT is the cultural sector's vehicle for working with the Department of Canadian Heritage and other departments and agencies of the Government of Canada on export preparedness and international business development issues.

It enables people, businesses and organisations in culture's private, public and non-profit sectors to help shape government priorities and actions.

"International linkages are one of the key services that Icograda facilitates on behalf of our members and stakeholders. We are looking forward to supporting CTAT's strategies for CanadaÂ’s design sector internationally," said Brenda Sanderson, Icograda's Managing Director.

Within Canada's cultural sector - a vibrant element of the Canadian economy - exports for design services have grown from CAD $30 million in 1999 to CAD $72.91 million in 2005.

Membership and Working Groups
CTATÂ’s membership is composed of public and private sector organisations. There are currently 8 sectoral Working Groups: Crafts; Design; Film & Television; Sound Recording; New Media; Performing Arts; Publishing; and Visual Arts. Each Working Group is industry-led with a Chair elected by members of CTAT. A core responsibility of the sectoral Working Groups is to maintain an evergreen International Trade Action Plan (ITAP) for the sector.
