Seoul (Korea) - In a global first for the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda), and a first for Korea, the Oullim 2000 Seoul Congress has been webcast live on the Internet. An innovative webcast team from Kyungsung University in Pusan have brought the entire Icograda Millennium Congress to the global community via the Internet at www.oullim.kyungsung.tv The full proceedings of this special three day millennium design congress were webcast live from 25 to 27 October 2000, and will be available in video-on-demand (VOD) format for a full year, until October 2001.

Under the direction of Professor Kim Jin-Chun, web technology director at the Department of Computer Engineering at Kyung Sung University, a team of 45 design, photography, computer engineering and communications students have been working since May on this remarkable webcast. Equipped with a budget of $150,00 US and an array of equipment including 10 cameras, 3 editing stations, 11 Macintosh G3 and G4 computers, as well as IBM and Compaq servers (for video streaming), this dedicated webcast team has achieved a major breakthrough in collaboration. Professor Kim Jin-Chun stated: "This has been a great learning experience for our team, and for our students. It has given us increased confidence. Our 2nd and 3rd year students gained a broad base of experience - allowing for interaction between engineering, design, communications and photography students. You might say that it was 'an enjoyable nightmare'."
