JIDPO TO ANNOUNCE GOOD DESIGN GRAND PRIZE 2006 ON 25 OCTOBER

Tokyo (Japan) - On 25 October 2006, Japan Industrial Design Promotion
Organization (JIDPO) will announce the Good Design Grand Prize 2006.
The winner will be selected from the BEST 15 nominees and presented at
the Good Design Grand Prize Winning Ceremony. The 14 other nominees
will receive the Good Design Gold Prize 2006.
The BEST 15 were announced on 2 October 2006 from the 1,034 items that were accredited by the 50 Good Design Award (the "G- Mark"). More than 2,918 submissions in the categories of "Product Design Categories," "Architecture and Environment Design Categories," "Communication Design Categories," and "New Territory Design Categories" were from 26 April to 7 June 2006. Toshiyuki Kita, Manabu Akaike, Kiyoyuki Okuyama, and the remaining 70 council members judged the 2,918 nominees and accredited 1,034 G-Mark items. The accredited 1,034 G-mark items include the BEST 15, Universal Design Prize, Interaction Design Prize, and Ecology Design Prize.
