Helsingor (Denmark) - The ICIS/Lund project is a joint endeavour intended to create the foundation for a innovative new scandinavian Masters programme in sustainable design. ICIS and the department of Environmental Strategy of Campus Helsingborg (Lund University) are the principal founders in the creation of this educational programme. The Municipality of Helsingor, city of Helsingborg and Frederiksborg county are contributing financial partners to the project. As such, this joint educational project is designed to elevate the level of sustainable design competence in the Oresund, Scandinavia and Europe.

As part of the project, we have developed a two-week pilot educational course, sustainable design Futures, to test out the particular configuration of sustainability and design topics that will be incorporated into the Masters programme.

Sustainable Design Futures
The 2-week pilot module is designed to give students at MA level an introduction to the challenge and value of sustainability in the context of design, spanning issues ranging from CSR and business ethics; ecodesign and eco-innovation; biomimicry and slow design; product development and waste. The module also focuses on sustainable city issues related to transport, waste and energy.

This 2-week course will focus on definitions, methods and applications and expand on the latest theories as well as tools in the field of sustainable design. There will be showcases as well as practical examples of implementation to encourage creative new thinking in meeting these challenge of sustainability.
